Lukky vs Gleam: two opposite ways to run a giveaway

A widget-based campaign platform against a comment-based draw with a certificate.

In short

Gleam is not a comment picker. It is a campaign widget where entrants complete actions, and where the organiser may hand-pick the winner rather than draw one. Lukky draws at random from the comments on a post and certifies the result. Take Gleam for a multi-action campaign; take Lukky for a comment giveaway.

Comparing Lukky and Gleam starts with saying they do different jobs. Gleam is a campaign platform: you embed a widget on a page, entrants complete actions inside it — follow an account, join a newsletter, refer a friend — and Gleam counts the entries. Lukky reads the comments on an Instagram or Facebook post and draws a winner from them.

Why the comment-limit row says "does not do this"

Because Gleam never reads a comment. Entries arrive through the widget, not through the comment thread on your post. Putting a number in that cell would imply a comparison that is not happening.

It is the most structural difference between the two, and on its own it settles most cases. A "comment to enter" giveaway on Instagram cannot be run with Gleam. An email-acquisition campaign with referral mechanics cannot be run with Lukky.

The practical consequence is about reach. Comments are what makes a post circulate: every one of them is a signal Instagram counts. A widget on your own website collects better data and generates none of that. Which of the two you need depends on whether you are buying attention on social or contact details for later.

The line to read carefully

Gleam's home page says: "Random Draw or Hand-Pick All Your Entries", and calls every result auditable either way. The organiser may therefore choose the winner by hand instead of drawing one.

That is not a flaw. For a photo contest, picking the entry you like is the whole point. But it is a different promise from a random draw, and anyone comparing the two should know it. Lukky offers no such option: the result is drawn at random, and the certificate attests to that.

The prices, as published

Gleam sells its products separately: Competitions from $29 a month, the full package at $119. A free account covers the basic Competitions features.

Lukky is €9.99 a month or €39.99 a year, with one free draw a week. The pricing page has the line-by-line detail. The gap reflects the difference in scope: Gleam sells a marketing platform, Lukky sells a certified draw.

Who should take which

Take Gleam if your giveaway is a multi-action campaign, if you want to collect emails, if referrals are part of the mechanic, or if you run Twitch and Discord communities.

Take Lukky if your giveaway lives in the comments of an Instagram or Facebook post, if you want a random draw with a certificate, and if embedding a widget on a website makes no sense for you.

What Gleam does better

  • Eight networks, including Twitch, Discord and Spotify, against Lukky’s two.
  • Entries are verified with each platform before being counted.
  • Bonus entries for referrals, which turn each entrant into a recruiter. Lukky has nothing like it.
  • A widget you can embed anywhere, with leaderboards and submissions.

FAQ

Can Gleam draw from Instagram comments?
No. Entries come through a widget you embed on a page, not from the comment thread on a post.
Is Gleam free?
A free account covers the basic Competitions features. The first paid tier is $29 a month. Checked 28 August 2026 on their pricing page.
Is the Gleam winner really random?
It depends what the organiser chooses: Gleam offers a random draw, a leaderboard and manual selection. Lukky only draws at random.
Can you use both?
Yes, and some brands do: Gleam for acquisition campaigns on their own site, Lukky for comment giveaways on social.
