A raffle generator draws the winning tickets of a raffle. This one works two ways: from a range of ticket numbers, drawing distinct winning numbers; or from a list of entrants, each with the number of tickets they hold, drawing winners in proportion to their tickets. Someone with 5 tickets is five times as likely to win as someone with 1, and nobody wins twice. The online raffle runs in your browser with a cryptographic generator, and nothing is sent anywhere.
How do you run an online raffle draw?
- Pick a mode. "Numbered tickets" when the entrants hold numbered stubs; "entrants with tickets" when you have a list of names and how many tickets each bought or earned.
- Numbered tickets: enter the first and the last ticket number, both included. A book of 250 tickets numbered 1001 to 1250 is "1001" and "1250".
- Entrants with tickets: one entrant per line followed by their number of tickets, as in "Ana, 3". A name with no number holds one ticket, and the same name on several lines adds up. The counter shows how many entrants and how many tickets are in play.
- Set the number of winners and draw. The result lists the winning numbers or names. Copy it, or draw again.
How does the weighted raffle work?
Each draw picks one ticket at random among all the tickets still in play, and the winner's remaining tickets are withdrawn before the next draw. With Ana 3, Bo 1 and Cy 5, there are 9 tickets: Cy has a 5 in 9 chance of winning first, about 56%, Ana 3 in 9, Bo 1 in 9. If Cy wins, the second winner is drawn among the 4 tickets left, so Ana has a 75% chance of the second prize and Bo 25%.
Winners are therefore distinct people, never distinct tickets of the same person. An entrant listed with 0 tickets cannot win, and the generator refuses more winners than there are entrants holding tickets rather than repeating someone. In numbered mode, the winning numbers are drawn without replacement from the range.

Is an online raffle legal?
It depends on whether tickets are sold. In the United States, a raffle where people pay for a chance at a prize is a lottery, regulated state by state and generally reserved to registered charities and nonprofits holding a permit, with some states forbidding it altogether. A raffle run as a promotion for a business has to be free to enter, "no purchase necessary", with a free way in that gives the same odds; that is what makes it a sweepstakes rather than a lottery.
Concretely: a school or a club selling $5 tickets needs to check its state's rules before the first ticket is sold. A brand giving away a product to its followers sells nothing and needs clear rules, which the giveaway rules generator writes in a minute. This page is not legal advice.
A raffle among the comments on a post
